Holly Holt
Dancer
The daughter and step-daughter of three dancers, Holly Holt never really
stood a chance! Since before she was born, Holly's world has been
framed by creative movement. As a child growing up on the edges of
dance studios, she loved dancing and believed it was so much fun
everyone should do it. As an adult this belief has become a passion for
empowering people to feel connected to their own bodies, and the rich,
undefinable language of movement.
Holly has been dancing professionally for the last five years with Kokoro
Dance Theatre - a Butoh inspired dance company, based in Vancouver,
Canada. With Butoh Holly has found a 'formless' form, a
body/performance philosophy that acknowledges the bodies capacity to
speak the unspeakable. For Holly, Butoh is also a way to explore and
embrace difference in a profound and essential way.
In 2007, Holly co-founded Dance Troupe Practice, a performance
collective established with a philosophy that explores the border zones
between dance and life. The group creates a steady out-put of unique,
raw and challenging material and performs regularly in a variety of
contexts.
