
Dug Mackie
mackie | design consultants: Initial Exhibition Concept Design
Dug is a versatile and intuitive interpretive designer with a wide range of experience in the conception,
production and delivery of Interpretive, Museum, Exhibition and Visitor Attraction Design. After graduating
with a first in Interior Architecture, Dug cut his Exhibition Design teeth as the Lead Theme Designer of the
‘Move It’ gallery at Explore At-Bristol. He then went on to work with Architects Ferguson Mann, to lead their
Exhibition Design dept. After which he joined Bremner & Orr as Project Designer. During that time, Dug
developed and designed a number of award winning exhibitions and visitor attractions, these included The
Roald Dahl Museum, ‘Gorilla Kingdom’; a re-conception of the Gorilla enclosure at London Zoo, Discover; a
story centre in East London and ‘The Bullring’; a concise history of the evolution of the city of Birmingham, to
name but a few.
Recent projects include the delivery of challenging outdoor interpretation trails, family orientated visitor
activities and mobile narrative audio interpretation through mobile phones using bluetooth. Other current
projects include the re-interpretation of a Tin Mine in South Cornwall and the re-development of a Church in
