Artist for Visual Biography Section - Memory Cupboards
Katie Dell Kaufman is a collage and assemblage artist whose work has received recognition in
her native Washington, DC, as “original” and “intelligent” in the way it combines drawings and
found objects, and where “every object has a second, hidden, meaning."
In addition to her work in the studio, Katie has taught at the Corcoran College of Art and Design
for the past 20 years. She has served as artist-in-residence in the public schools, building a
sculpture with 400 students to reflect diversity within their community and has worked on a
portrait project with over 100 other artists to commemorate the American soldiers lost in the Iraq
war.
Katie received her undergraduate degree in sculpture from Bard College in New York and her
MA in Art Education from the University of Maryland. She has exhibited her work in galleries and
museums in New York and Washington, DC. She is currently represented by the Arteco Gallery
in Cumberland, MD. For more information on Katie and to view examples of her work, click here.
